Collector Distributes Heifers to Farmers from Vemulawada Temple Goshala

Rajanna Sircilla, June 9: In a heartfelt move to support rural livelihoods, Rajanna Sircilla District Collector spearheaded the distribution of heifers from the Tippapur cowshed belonging to the sacred Vemulawada Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy Temple. The event aimed to empower economically backward farmers through sustainable dairy farming.

The initiative took place under the spiritual and social welfare mission of the Vemulawada temple administration. These high-yielding cattle were carefully selected and handed over to deserving farmers after thorough vetting, ensuring that the temple’s resources reach the truly needy.

The district collector appreciated the temple authorities for aligning religious service with rural development. He stated, “Such acts not only preserve our traditions but also uplift farmers by promoting self-employment and animal husbandry.”

Farmers expressed their gratitude, sharing their hopes of better income and nutrition for their families. The temple management also confirmed regular health checkups for the donated cattle.

Canadian and Mexican Responses

This event, supported by local leaders and villagers, reflects the community-oriented vision of integrating faith, service, and progress.

The Vemulawada Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy Temple, famously known as “Dakshina Kashi,” attracts lakhs of devotees each year. With growing income from devotees’ offerings and donations, the temple has expanded its role in social welfare. This livestock distribution is one among several community outreach programs being implemented by the temple board, in collaboration with district authorities.

Officials informed that around 60 heifers were distributed in the first phase. More such drives are expected in the coming months, as part of a broader plan to encourage dairy development and support self-sufficiency among rural communities. The Collector added that farmers receiving the heifers would also be linked to veterinary health monitoring, fodder supply schemes, and dairy cooperative support networks.

The initiative has been widely welcomed by agricultural officers, local leaders, and rural development NGOs, who hailed the government’s collaborative approach with temple resources. They expressed hope that this initiative would set a precedent for other temples in Telangana to follow suit and take up farmer welfare programs actively.

As the sun set on the temple premises, the sight of farmers joyfully leading their new heifers home stood as a testament to what inclusive governance and community spirit can achieve together.
