Congress-BJP Nexus Exposed: BRS Counters Kaleswaram Project Misinformation
Hyderabad, Telangana – Samaya Jyothi:
In a decisive move to counter the ongoing misinformation campaign surrounding the prestigious Kaleswaram Project, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) held a fact-based presentation at Telangana Bhavan, unveiling what it termed as the “real truth” behind the controversy.
The event, led by former minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao, was attended by BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), former ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other senior BRS leaders. During the session, Harish Rao presented detailed documents, photographs, and official reports to prove that the negative narratives being pushed by Congress and BJP are baseless and politically motivated.
Harish Rao accused the Congress and BJP of colluding to spread “false propaganda” about the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project — one of India’s largest and most ambitious infrastructure undertakings. He alleged that the opposition parties were deliberately misleading the public for electoral gains by twisting facts and presenting outdated or misinterpreted information.
This propaganda is not just an attack on BRS, but on the future of Telangana’s farmers and irrigation infrastructure. We are here to expose this conspiracy with facts, not fiction,” said Harish Rao during the presentation.

He pointed out that the project had already benefited lakhs of farmers across Telangana, increased groundwater levels, and provided drinking water to remote regions. He supported his claims with project performance data, audit summaries, and visuals of transformed agricultural lands.
The BRS leaders emphasized that the National Dam Safety Authority’s (NDSA) reports had not cited structural flaws as being caused by poor planning, but rather attributed the damages to natural factors such as excessive floods. The presentation also included statements from engineers and domain experts who supported the integrity of the project’s design and construction.
KTR, while addressing the gathering, criticized the opposition for politicizing a developmental milestone. “Kaleswaram is Telangana’s lifeline. It’s shameful that Congress and BJP are teaming up to malign such a vital project with fake news,” he said. He praised Harish Rao for bringing facts to the forefront and reiterated that BRS remains committed to development backed by transparency.
Throughout the event, a strong message was conveyed — BRS will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the achievements of Telangana’s irrigation and agricultural progress. Party leaders also challenged opposition figures to engage in public debates with evidence rather than relying on social media gimmicks and press meets.
Local MLAs and MLCs, including senior leaders from Karimnagar, Warangal, and Nalgonda, extended their support to the BRS stance and echoed that misleading narratives were harming the public perception of a project that had revolutionized Telangana’s irrigation network.
The Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project, designed to utilize water from the Godavari River, was inaugurated in 2019 and has since played a transformative role in the state’s water resource management. BRS maintains that despite technical hurdles, the project remains a benchmark in engineering and state-led planning.
The event concluded with a united appeal from BRS leaders urging citizens and farmers not to fall prey to propaganda, and instead support truth, development, and accountability in governance.
