Priyanka Gandhi Enhances Healthcare Access in Kalpetta with Mobile Dispensary & C-Arm Machine Launch
Kalpetta, Kerala — In a meaningful step towards inclusive healthcare, Congress General Secretary and Wayanad Member of Parliament, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, graced a heartwarming family get-together for patients who had undergone successful knee surgeries. The emotional gathering celebrated their recovery and highlighted the importance of accessible medical care for all.
The event, held under the samaya jyothi initiative—aimed at illuminating lives through compassionate healthcare—brought together patients, families, and medical staff in a spirit of gratitude and resilience. Several beneficiaries shared their experiences, with many crediting timely intervention and post-operative care for their swift recovery.
In addition to the patient meet, Priyanka Gandhi also presided over two major healthcare initiatives at the Taluk Headquarters Hospital in Vythiri, Kalpetta. She formally handed over the keys of a mobile dispensary vehicle, a crucial step towards delivering healthcare to underserved and remote areas in Wayanad. This mobile unit is fully equipped to provide primary medical services, routine check-ups, and medicine distribution in tribal and hilly regions.

Speaking at the event, Gandhi emphasized,
“Healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Our effort is to ensure that every citizen, no matter how remote their location, receives the care and dignity they deserve.”
She also inaugurated the C-Arm Machine, a high-end imaging device essential for orthopedic and surgical procedures. The installation of this equipment is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and safety of surgeries performed at the hospital. Local medical professionals hailed the development as a transformative milestone in public health infrastructure in the region.
Dr. Sreedevi Nair, the hospital superintendent, remarked,
“With the addition of the C-Arm Machine, our surgical capabilities have entered a new era. We’re now able to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision.”
The samaya jyothi campaign, closely aligned with these initiatives, is designed to uplift community healthcare through infrastructure upgrades, mobile outreach, and public engagement. According to party officials, the project will continue to expand across rural Kerala in the coming months.
Residents of Kalpetta welcomed the developments with enthusiasm. Among them was Mr. Ravi, a local tea farmer and recent knee surgery patient, who said,
“It was a blessing to see Priyanka Gandhi in person. She listened to our stories, understood our needs, and supported our hospital. I feel hopeful for the future.”
The Congress leader’s visit also signaled a renewed commitment to rural development and patient-centric governance. Her presence in Wayanad has been a symbol of consistent advocacy for the voiceless, and today’s initiatives are tangible proof of that promise being fulfilled.
Priyanka Gandhi later interacted with local health officials and community leaders, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence in public service. She reiterated that the Congress Party will keep working to enhance infrastructure and bring innovation to grassroots health management.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by local MLA K. Balan, who praised Gandhi’s leadership and called the day a turning point in Kalpetta’s health services.
As the sun set over the green hills of Wayanad, the samaya jyothi of better healthcare burned brighter, lighting the path toward a healthier, more connected community.
