"Papa, I Deserve It": Shooter Manu Bhaker's Father Voices Disappointment Over Khel Ratna Snub
Manu Bhaker’s Khel Ratna Snub Sparks Controversy: Father Urges for Justice
In a surprising turn of events, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, who created history by winning two Olympic medals at the Paris Games, has reportedly been excluded from the list of nominees for the prestigious Khel Ratna Award 2024. This omission has led to a significant uproar, with Manu’s father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, expressing deep disappointment.
Ram Kishan Bhaker, speaking to NDTV Sports Editor Vimal Mohan, revealed that Manu, currently attending PV Sindhu’s wedding in Hyderabad, is disheartened by the news. “Papa, I think I deserve it,” Manu reportedly told her father.
Ram Kishan, who is currently overseas due to his Merchant Navy duties, questioned the fairness of the selection process, stating that the bureaucratic hurdles are tarnishing the reputation of the Sports Ministry. He emphasized that Manu’s historic Olympic achievements make her a deserving candidate for the highest sports honor in the country.
