New Skywalk Projects to Enhance Connectivity and Safety for Hyderabad Metro Commuters
Hyderabad Metro Unveils Skywalks for Safer Pedestrian Movement at All Station
In a move to enhance pedestrian safety and convenience, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) announced on Monday that all metro stations in the city will soon feature skywalks. These skywalks will connect metro stations to the nearest commercial or residential complexes, making it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross busy roads.
NVS Reddy, Managing Director of HMRL, confirmed the development, stating that the skywalks will significantly improve safety for pedestrians, particularly in areas with heavy traffic. The first skywalk under construction connects Dr. Ambedkar Balanagar Metro Station to the nearby Phoenix/Landmark Mall. This will help passengers and visitors safely cross the road, avoiding traffic congestion and enhancing overall accessibility.
Another notable project includes a skywalk being constructed by Vasavi Group, which will link LB Nagar Metro Station to the Vasavi Anandanilayam complex, a large residential area. The Vasavi Anandanilayam complex, currently under construction, will feature 12 towers, each with 33 floors, providing homes for a large number of families. The new skywalk will ensure safe and convenient access for residents and metro passengers alike.

In addition to these projects, several other companies are in discussions to build similar skywalks at various metro stations, including Nagole, Stadium, Durgam Cheruvu, and Kukatpally. These initiatives will make it easier for pedestrians to safely navigate the city and improve the overall metro experience for commuters.
Metro MD, KVB Reddy, highlighted that all 57 stations in the first phase of Hyderabad Metro have already been equipped with facilities that allow pedestrians to cross from one side of the road to the other safely. He encouraged the public to make use of these free and convenient crossings to avoid traffic hazards.
For private companies interested in constructing skywalks at metro stations, L&T Metro Rail Retail Head, KV Nagendra Prasad, is available for inquiries at 99000-93820.
This effort is part of Hyderabad Metro’s ongoing commitment to improve safety and accessibility, making the city’s metro system more pedestrian-friendly and efficient.
