Another Tragedy Strikes: Delhi Passenger Train Derails Near Shivaji Bridge, Probe Underway
New Delhi, July 7, 2025:
In yet another blow to India’s transport safety, a passenger train (64419) running from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Ghaziabad derailed near Shivaji Bridge station in Delhi earlier today. The incident comes at a time when the country is still mourning the loss from the recent Ahmedabad plane crash, deepening the national grief.
Eyewitnesses reported a loud thud followed by chaos as one or more coaches went off the tracks, causing panic among passengers. Emergency response teams rushed to the scene, and relief operations are currently underway.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, and rail traffic in the vicinity has been temporarily halted. While there are no confirmed reports of casualties or injuries yet, officials are continuing to assess the situation.
“We are investigating the cause of derailment and will provide details shortly,” said a senior railway official.
This incident once again raises concerns about rail infrastructure maintenance and passenger safety protocols, especially on heavily traveled urban routes.
