Thousands Gather at Nampally for Bathini Family’s Traditional Fish Prasadam Asthma Remedy

Centuries-Old Fish Prasadam Tradition Draws Thousands to Nampally for Asthma Relief

Hyderabad: The revered Fish Prasadam distribution began today at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds, drawing thousands of people from across India who gathered in hopes of finding relief from asthma and respiratory ailments. Administered by the famed Bathini Goud family, this age-old ritual involves swallowing a live murrel fish filled with a secret herbal paste, believed by many to alleviate breathing disorders.

The Fish Prasadam, traditionally held every year in June, is deeply rooted in faith, Ayurveda, and cultural belief. The ritual has been practiced for more than 175 years and continues to draw both devotees and the curious alike.

The Bathini brothers, caretakers of the tradition, began administering the prasadam early in the morning. Despite scientific skepticism, many patients continue to return year after year, sharing personal stories of relief and improved health.

To manage the massive turnout, Hyderabad city police implemented traffic restrictions and heightened security in and around Nampally. Medical stations, drinking water kiosks, and volunteer groups have been stationed across the venue to support the smooth conduct of the event.

Civic organizations like #SamayaJyothi, along with hundreds of local volunteers, played a crucial role in managing the crowd, offering assistance to senior citizens, and guiding first-time visitors through the process.

The event will continue for 24 hours, and those attending are advised to follow health and hygiene protocols and use designated entry/exit points as instructed by authorities.
