Telangana: Sircilla Excise Superintendent, CI Suspended Over Unlawful Bar License Renewal

Telangana Sircilla Excise Superintendent, CI Suspended Over Unlawful Bar

Telangana Government Suspends Sircilla Excise Officials Over Bar License Scandal

Sircilla, Telangana: The Telangana government has taken stringent action against two excise officials for unlawfully favoring Chitra Bar and Restaurant by renewing its 2B liquor license without a valid trade license. District Excise Superintendent S Panchakshari and Circle Inspector (CI) Gulam Mustafa have been suspended following an internal probe that exposed their involvement in the irregularities.

The controversy surfaced when it was discovered that the bar’s 2B license had been renewed despite the absence of a valid trade license, a fundamental requirement for its approval. The unauthorized renewal led to administrative inconvenience and raised concerns over regulatory compliance in the district.

Superintendent Panchakshari was found guilty of signing off on the renewal, neglecting legal prerequisites. Meanwhile, CI Gulam Mustafa was suspended for providing false information regarding the establishment’s trade license status, misleading the authorities into granting approval.

Telangana Government Cracks Down on Licensing Irregularities

State authorities have underscored that such lapses weaken governance and pave the way for favoritism and corruption in licensing procedures. “Strict action has been taken to maintain transparency and accountability in the excise department,” a senior official stated.

Following the officials’ suspension, the government has launched a broader review to identify any additional irregularities in liquor licensing procedures. The administration has pledged to tighten enforcement mechanisms to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Legal experts argue that this case underscores the urgent need for stronger oversight within the excise department. Business owners in the region have expressed mixed reactions, with some advocating for stricter regulations while others emphasize the need for fairer, corruption-free compliance procedures.

The Telangana government’s swift response serves as a warning to officials who attempt to manipulate regulations for personal gain. Further inquiries are expected to determine if more individuals were complicit in the wrongdoing, ensuring that accountability remains a top priority.
