Government Plans Global Push for Telugu Film Industry: Major Decisions at Cabinet Meet

Telangana Govt Sets Sights on Global Recognition for Telugu Film Industry

Hyderabad, June 11 (Samaya Jyothi) – The Telangana state government has reaffirmed its commitment to taking the Telugu film industry to the global stage. In a significant development, the Cabinet Subcommittee on Cinematography, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, convened at the State Secretariat today to review strategies aimed at uplifting the industry.

Also present at the meeting were Associate Minister D. Sridhar Babu and officials from the Cinematography and Information Department. The session focused on creating comprehensive policies, infrastructure development, and supporting new talent in Tollywood.

The committee discussed at length the steps necessary to foster growth, including the development of film cities, post-production facilities, subsidies for budding filmmakers, and collaborations with international film festivals and studios.

Key Focus: Infrastructure and Policy Reform

“The Telugu film industry holds a powerful cultural influence and commercial potential,” said Deputy CM Bhatti Mallu. “We must enable it to evolve into a global cinematic powerhouse by investing in infrastructure, policy reforms, and creative talent.”

The state government plans to introduce a new, industry-friendly film policy that will support both small and large-scale productions. This will include tax incentives, simplified permission processes for shooting locations, and subsidized use of government resources for filmmaking.

Boosting Young Talent and Regional Representation

The ministers emphasized the need to support young producers, directors, and actors. Plans were proposed to launch talent incubation centers and organize film workshops in collaboration with film schools and universities across Telangana.

“We want to build a foundation that allows every creative youth in Telangana to have a chance at success in the film world,” said Associate Minister Sridhar Babu. “This is more than cinema—it’s about preserving and promoting our culture.”

Telangana Gaddar Film Awards on June 14

A key highlight of the meeting was the preparation for the upcoming Telangana Gaddar Film Awards, scheduled for June 14. Officials were directed to ensure the event reflects the cultural richness and dignity of the state.

Named in honor of the late revolutionary poet Gaddar, these awards aim to celebrate artistic excellence in Telugu cinema while encouraging socially impactful storytelling.

“Gaddar garu’s legacy must be honored with dignity, and this platform should elevate films that echo his spirit,” said the Deputy CM.

Global Outlook for Telugu Cinema

With Telugu films increasingly gaining international attention, the Telangana government sees a golden opportunity. Officials discussed strategic partnerships with global streaming platforms, international film festivals, and diaspora communities to promote Telugu content worldwide.

The goal is to transform Hyderabad into a global film production hub, on par with Mumbai and Chennai, and expand the reach of Tollywood beyond borders.

Public and Industry Participation Essential

The government also called upon the film fraternity and public to play a role in this journey. “Taking Telugu cinema global is not just the government’s vision—it requires the passion and cooperation of every artist, filmmaker, and fan,” said Bhatti Mallu.

The Cinematography Department has been tasked with drafting a roadmap that includes actionable goals over the next five years.

With strong political will and creative ambition, Telangana is on a mission to transform the Telugu film industry into a world-class cultural force. The coming years may well mark a new golden era for Tollywood.
