India’s sports ecosystem continues to shine as four remarkable athletes, including double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker and chess world champion D Gukesh, have been selected for the prestigious Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award, India’s highest sporting honor. In a significant announcement by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, this year’s Khel Ratna recipients also include men’s hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and Paralympic gold medalist Praveen Kumar.

In addition to the Khel Ratna awardees, 32 other athletes and para-athletes have been nominated for the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest sporting honor.
