Latur bus accident: High-Speed Bus Crash Leaves Passengers Injured, Six in Critical Condition
Latur bus accident: In a tragic road accident, a Maharashtra State Transport (ST) bus overturned while attempting to avoid a motorcycle on the Nagpur-Ratnagiri Highway in Latur district on Monday at around 2 PM, police officials confirmed. At least 38 people sustained injuries, with six of them reported to be in critical condition.
The incident took place near Nandgaon Pati in Chakur tehsil, where the bus, which was traveling from Ahmedpur to Latur, swerved sharply to avoid colliding with a motorcycle. The sudden maneuver caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading to the bus skidding and overturning.
The Divisional Traffic Officer, Sandip Padwal, confirmed that 38 passengers suffered injuries, with some sustaining severe trauma to their limbs and requiring urgent medical attention. Several ambulances and private vehicles rushed the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

the scene reported that the bus was moving at a high speed before the accident occurred. When the motorcycle suddenly appeared in its path, the driver attempted to steer away but lost balance due to the momentum, causing the bus to overturn after skidding a considerable distance.
Some passengers mentioned that they felt the bus wobble before the crash, hinting at possible over-speeding or a sudden braking failure. However, an official statement regarding the exact cause is awaited as the police continue their investigation.
According to officials, the bus was carrying 48 passengers, including women and students who were traveling to Latur to appear for exams. Many of the injured have been admitted to local hospitals, and doctors are closely monitoring those in critical condition.
Speaking about the injuries, Sandip Padwal said:
“Many passengers sustained fractures and serious injuries to their limbs. Those with critical wounds have been shifted to well-equipped hospitals for specialized treatment. The local administration is ensuring that all necessary medical assistance is provided.”
