The Agnipath scheme introduced in 2022 targeted absorbing young people aged 18-21 years into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air force to serve for four years. While the scheme received backlash and demonstrations, the moves by the BJP states are in response to the call and concern to assure Agniveers a bright future. State Specifics

Gujarat: Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel revealed that armed police hires and the State Reserve Police Force would accord priority to recruitment of Agniveers.

Odisha Eligibility/Relaxation for Uniformed Services: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on April 1, promised a quota of 10% and age relaxation up to five years for Agniveers in the state uniformed services.

Uttar Pradesh : CM Yogi Adityanath said, ‘Agniveers will be preferred in U.P. Police and PAC’;

Chattisgarh: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced reservations for Agniveers in police constable and forest guard recruitments, guidelines to be issued soon

Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared, ‘Agniveer soldiers will get reservation in state police and armed forces recruitment’

Uttarakhand: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami not only declared reservations in government jobs but also increased the aid for martyrs’ families from ₹10 lakh to 50 crore.

Arunachal Pradesh: This morning even Chief Minister Pema Khandu added his state to the list, promising training for local youths for Agnipath scheme recruitment; payroll waiver of all endowment sector employees and retirees retiring workforce in police / emergency private vehicles / fire service that has retired as an instrument.

The Agnipath scheme, was envisaged to empower the Indian military with short-term enlistments of young bredren in the 17-and-a-half-21 age group. While the program was designed to bring fresh blood into an older and corrupt mailing operation, it turned out that only a certain percentage of Agniveers were kept on after four years. The other 75% created a process that would ultimately serve as debate fuel over which way they could go next in life.

The announcements have prompted a mix of responses across the political spectrum. Even as BJP-led states have welcomed the scheme and its capacity to absorb trained professionals in state services, opposition parties like Congress have taken a cynical view about it; pledging to scrap the scheme if they come back into power.

This initiative is a small step in honour of the sacrifice and service by Agniveers. These job quotas are a testament of the nation looking back at its past glories and ahead to be wary concerning threats future and playing their bit in ensuring those who have served, continue to receive that moral sacrifice as support and assurance.
