BJP OBC Morcha Demands Urgent Improvements in Over 300 BC Gurukuls Across the State
Samaya Jyothi News | Hyderabad | June 11, 2025
With schools and educational institutions reopening across the state from June 12, critical concerns regarding the condition of BC Gurukuls have come to light. On this occasion, BJP OBC Morcha State President Gandha Malla Anand Goud led a delegation to submit a formal memorandum to the Education Secretary, highlighting pressing issues faced by more than 300 BC Gurukuls in Telangana.
The memorandum emphasized the urgent need for action to ensure that students from backward communities receive a dignified and supportive learning environment. Speaking to media representatives outside the Secretariat, Anand Goud expressed deep concern over the lack of basic infrastructure in these residential educational institutions.
“We are not just talking about education; we are talking about basic human dignity. Students need clean toilets, safe drinking water, hygienic surroundings, and nutritious food. These are not luxuries—they are fundamental rights,” said Mr. Goud.
The memorandum outlines several key demands including:
Immediate inspection and renovation of hostel premises.
Installation of a sufficient number of toilets and bathrooms.
Regular maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation.
Assurance of quality meals and regular health check-ups for students.
Provision of clean drinking water and adequate security.
According to the BJP OBC Morcha, many of these Gurukuls are ill-maintained, with reports of poor food quality, dirty surroundings, and a shortage of toilet facilities. These issues have raised serious concerns about the health and safety of students, especially as they return to school following the summer break.
The delegation stressed that education alone is not enough—students must also be ensured a healthy and conducive environment to live and study. They warned that continued negligence towards the needs of BC Gurukul students could have long-term negative impacts on their academic and personal development.

State-level OBC Morcha leaders also participated in the event, showing solidarity and reinforcing the importance of the initiative. The team urged the Education Department to respond swiftly, especially as educational institutions are set to resume operations imminently.
The BJP OBC Morcha stated that this is not a political issue, but a matter of student welfare and equality. “Every child deserves to learn in a clean, safe, and nurturing environment,” said a senior member of the delegation.
Community leaders and parents across the state have voiced their support for the initiative, stating that improvements in Gurukuls are long overdue. In several districts, local parent associations have documented recurring problems in BC residential schools and are hopeful that this action will lead to real change.
Anand Goud concluded his appeal with a strong message to the government, saying, “If these issues are not addressed before the reopening of schools, we will organize statewide protests demanding justice for BC students.”
As the state prepares for the new academic year, all eyes are on the Education Department to act swiftly and effectively in response to these demands. The situation of BC Gurukuls is now under public scrutiny, and any delay in action may not only affect thousands of students but could also spark larger debates on educational equity and access.
