Security measures have been heightened in several districts of Uttar Pradesh following the death of jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. Ansari passed away due to cardiac arrest at a hospital in Banda, triggering a series of events including prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC being imposed across the state.
In the wake of his death, a viral phone call conversation between Mukhtar Ansari and his kin has surfaced on social media. Additionally, Ansari’s son, Omar Ansari, has written a letter to the District Magistrate of Banda, requesting that the postmortem of his father be conducted by doctors from AIIMS, Delhi.
Police presence has been increased outside Banda Medical College Hospital, where Ansari passed away. Meanwhile, a crowd gathered outside his home in Ghazipur as authorities maintained a close watch. A magisterial investigation into the matter will be conducted by a three-member team, and a panel of two doctors will carry out the post-mortem examination.
The circumstances surrounding Mukhtar Ansari’s death have raised suspicions, with some claiming the possibility of ‘slow poison’ being involved. The judicial probe aims to ascertain the facts and provide clarity on the situation.
