Kangana Ranaut Drags Rahul Gandhi into Mandi Row, Criticizes Congress for ‘Hindu-Shakti’ Comment

In a fiery campaign speech for the Lok Sabha election 2024 in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, particularly targeting its leader Rahul Gandhi. Referring to recent controversies, including Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate’s comments about her, Kangana criticized the party for indulging in what she called “cheap politics.”

Kangana, who is contesting from Mandi as a BJP candidate, expressed her joy at receiving the nomination and returning to her hometown. She highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about “annihilating the shakti among the Hindus” and criticized the party’s treatment of women, particularly referring to the derogatory comments made about the women of Mandi by a Congress spokesperson.

This marks Kangana’s first public appearance in Mandi since her nomination, and she used the platform to address the controversies surrounding her candidacy. She mentioned the Election Commission’s notice to Supriya Shrinate regarding her comments on Kangana, which Shrinate claimed were posted without her knowledge by someone handling her social media accounts.

The election in Mandi is expected to be highly contested, with the Congress yet to announce its candidate. Pratibha Singh, the sitting MP and wife of former CM Virbhadra Singh, initially expressed reluctance to contest but later stated she would leave the decision to the party high command after Kangana’s nomination was announced.

The row over Rahul Gandhi’s “Shakti” remark during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resurfaced, with Kangana highlighting his words about the soul of the king being in the EVM and institutions like the ED, CBI, and income tax department. Kangana’s criticism reflects the intensifying political battle in Mandi as the election approaches.
