India’s growing defense capabilities were prominently showcased at IndoDefence 2024 as Shri Sandeep Chakravorty, Ambassador of India to Indonesia, inaugurated the India Pavilion and visited the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) stall. The event, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, witnessed participation from leading global defense organizations, with India making a significant impact through its innovation, technology, and strategic outreach.
IndoDefence 2024, one of Southeast Asia’s premier defense exhibitions, provided a platform for India to exhibit its indigenous advancements in defense technology and promote defense diplomacy. The inauguration of the India Pavilion by Ambassador Chakravorty marks a pivotal step in enhancing bilateral cooperation between India and Indonesia in the defense sector.
The India Pavilion featured top defense manufacturers and institutions under the umbrella of the Indian Ministry of Defence, showcasing cutting-edge technologies, equipment, and systems designed for modern warfare and national security. The organization presented a wide range of products including advanced missiles, surveillance systems, and defense electronics developed in collaboration with Indian industry partners. The stall attracted the attention of delegates and defense professionals, highlighting India’s technological strides.

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and collaboration discussions were initiated during the exhibition, promoting defense exports and strengthening India’s defense diplomacy.
Indonesia and India share a rich maritime history and strategic convergence in the Indo-Pacific region. IndoDefence 2024 served as a timely platform to enhance cooperation in maritime security, joint training, and defense production. Ambassador Chakravorty reiterated India’s readiness to collaborate with Indonesia in areas of mutual interest, including joint exercises and technology exchange.
This year’s IndoDefence Expo included over 900 companies from more than 60 countries, emphasizing the event’s global scale. India’s presence was marked not only by government institutions but also private defense enterprises eager to explore international opportunities.
In a rapidly changing geopolitical environment, India’s increasing participation in global defense expos signals its transition from a defense importer to a defense exporter. The IndoDefence platform allowed India to highlight this transformation and build international partnerships in line with its national interests.
