Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Meets IG Bhisham Sharma to Strengthen Coastal Security and Maritime Preparedness
Samaya Jyothi | Mumbai, Maharashtra — In a strategic move to bolster India’s maritime defense and ensure heightened coastal security, Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, and Commander of the Coast Guard Region (West), called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday. The high-level meeting focused on enhancing operational synergy and infrastructure growth of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), particularly in the western seaboard of India.
The discussion between the senior coast guard official and the Hon’ble CM covered a range of pivotal issues including coastal security, maritime safety, infrastructure augmentation, and operational readiness during critical missions such as Operation Sindoor.
IG Bhisham Sharma apprised the Chief Minister about the Indian Coast Guard’s proactive measures to counteract the rising incidents of smuggling and other unlawful activities occurring off the coast of Maharashtra. With monsoon season in full swing, he emphasized the ICG’s readiness to operate effectively despite challenging sea conditions.
