Deputy CM Bhatti Mallu and Associate Minister DSB Discuss Key Aspects of Gaddar Awards at Ambedkar Secretariat
Samaya Jyothi, Hyderabad –
In a significant development surrounding the highly anticipated Gaddar Awards program, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and Associate Minister Shri Danasari Anasuya Seethakka (DSB) engaged in a detailed review meeting at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat. The purpose of the meeting was to address a wide range of organizational aspects tied to the state’s prestigious Gaddar Awards, an initiative aimed at honoring exceptional contributions in the fields of literature, social justice, and public service.
The Gaddar Awards, named in tribute to the revolutionary poet and activist Gaddar, are being instituted by the state government to recognize individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the advancement of marginalized communities and the upliftment of democratic values through art, activism, and public engagement. The upcoming award ceremony is poised to become a landmark event in Telangana’s cultural calendar.
During the discussions, Deputy CM Shri Bhatti Mallu emphasized the symbolic importance of the Gaddar Awards. “This is not just an award; it is a tribute to Gaddar’s ideals, and a celebration of those who continue to carry forward his legacy of speaking truth to power,” he stated. He also highlighted the need for inclusive representation, transparency in selection, and wide media outreach to ensure the awards resonate with citizens across all walks of life.

Associate Minister Shri DSB echoed similar sentiments and called for robust administrative planning to execute the event seamlessly. “We must ensure the event reflects the values Gaddar stood for—equality, justice, and cultural empowerment. We are not just honoring individuals but inspiring generations,” she remarked.
The meeting covered essential areas such as the selection criteria, jury constitution, nomination process, security protocols, venue arrangements, and outreach strategies. Officials presented detailed reports on logistical coordination, suggesting multiple venues for pre-event cultural festivals that will lead up to the main awards ceremony.
There was also a proposal to integrate school and college outreach programs to raise awareness among youth about Gaddar’s life and message. The ministers directed officials to ensure that the program’s educational and emotional impact extends beyond the ceremony and reaches rural, urban, and tribal communities.
Furthermore, it was proposed that the award categories include fields like poetry, folk music, activism, education, journalism, and public welfare. This holistic approach aims to celebrate grassroots heroes and thought leaders alike.
In a press interaction following the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed the government’s commitment to celebrating Telangana’s socio-political consciousness. “Gaddar was a symbol of resistance and courage. These awards will set a benchmark for cultural integrity and people’s empowerment,” said Deputy CM Bhatti Mallu.
The Gaddar Awards program is scheduled to be held later this year, with exact dates to be announced soon. A dedicated website and digital platform are also being developed to ensure transparent dissemination of information and ease of participation for nominators and stakeholders.
Citizens, NGOs, academic institutions, and cultural bodies will be invited to recommend nominees through an open and structured submission process. The final selections will be made by a high-level jury comprising academicians, activists, and public figures with impeccable credentials.
The meeting concluded with the ministers instructing respective departments to submit progress reports every fortnight and ensure coordination between departments such as Culture, Education, Home, and Information & Public Relations.
The Gaddar Awards, once implemented, are expected to not only become a recurring cultural honor in the state but also serve as an enduring tribute to one of Telangana’s most iconic figures. By embedding Gaddar’s revolutionary spirit into institutional memory, the state aims to bridge the past with the aspirations of the present.
As the planning moves forward, all eyes are on the execution of this visionary initiative that seeks to elevate values of courage, justice, and grassroots leadership across Telangana and beyond.
