Bravery Amid the Deluge: Tourists Rescued from Raging Erugundi Falls in Moodbidri
In a dramatic rescue operation at Erugundi Falls near Paladka in Moodbidri, five tourists were saved by local residents after getting trapped on slippery rocks amid relentless rainfall in Dakshina Kannada district.
The waterfall, swollen by days of heavy rain, posed a grave risk to the tourists who ventured too close to the edge — despite multiple warning signs and prior incidents. As the current surged and rocks turned treacherous, the group found themselves stranded, unable to return.
Thankfully, a group of courageous locals sprang into action, using ropes and makeshift safety gear to pull the tourists back to safety. Their quick thinking and fearless effort prevented a potential tragedy.
Authorities once again urge the public to heed warning signs and refrain from risky behavior at natural sites during the monsoon season.
“Nature is majestic, but she demands respect. This could’ve ended very differently,” said one of the rescuers.
Let this serve as a powerful reminder — beauty should never come at the cost of safety.
