Union Minister of State for Defence Visits Key Defence Units in Telangana

Sangareddy, Telangana:
The Union Minister of State for Defence undertook a significant visit to Sangareddy district, Telangana, where he toured two of India’s prominent defence manufacturing units — the Ordnance Factory and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). The visit emphasized the central government’s strategic focus on strengthening India’s defence capabilities and the role of Telangana in national security manufacturing.

The Minister was warmly received by Medak Member of Parliament Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao, who accompanied him throughout the visit. A formal welcome was organized at the premises of the Ordnance Factory, where the Minister inspected facilities, interacted with engineers and management, and reviewed key manufacturing processes.

During his interaction with the press, the Union Minister reiterated the government’s vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India), particularly in the defence sector. “Telangana plays a crucial role in India’s military preparedness, and these factories contribute immensely to the development of sophisticated weapon systems and ammunition,” he stated.

The next stop was Bharat Dynamics Limited, known for developing strategic defence equipment including missiles and other advanced weaponry. Here, the Minister was briefed on the ongoing projects, indigenous technologies under development, and upcoming collaborations with private defence players.

We hope for greater investment and technological upgrades here in the future,” said Rao.

Political Undercurrent in Telangana
While the visit was primarily focused on defence infrastructure, political undertones could not be missed. Rao, addressing a local gathering, claimed that “the people’s government in Telangana has reached its limit,” indicating dissatisfaction with the current state leadership. He added that the people are ready for change, hinting at the BJP’s growing presence in the region.

Political observers noted that the timing and optics of this visit might align with broader political ambitions, as national leaders begin to make inroads in the state with an eye on future elections.

He also accompanied the Minister during interactions with factory workers, ensuring that their voices were heard. In an informal session, Rao highlighted the need for better working conditions, more R&D units, and skill-development opportunities within Telangana’s defence industrial corridor.
