Parents Protest DPS Dwarka Fee Hike at Jantar Mantar, Demand Transparency and Relief

Voices of Concern Echo at Jantar Mantar: DPS Dwarka Parents Protest Sudden Fee Hike

New Delhi, July 9, 2025 —
Anger and frustration spilled into the streets today as parents of students from DPS Dwarka gathered at Jantar Mantar, protesting the school’s sudden and steep fee hike. The crowd, made up largely of concerned parents, held banners and raised slogans demanding a complete rollback of the hike, greater financial transparency, and intervention from education authorities.

“We’re not against quality education, but this hike is unreasonable. Education should be a right, not a luxury,” said one protesting parent.

The demonstration reflects a growing concern among middle-class families over the rising cost of private schooling in the capital. Parents claim that the recent fee increase — implemented without adequate consultation or prior notice — has placed an unexpected financial burden on them.

Some parents highlighted issues such as:

  • Lack of clarity on how fees are being allocated

  • Extra charges for infrastructure and technology

  • No option for phased or deferred payment

“Our salaries haven’t increased overnight — why should school fees?” asked another protester.

The group is now appealing to the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) to launch an investigation into the school’s fee structure and implement stronger regulatory checks on private institutions.
