12 Maoists Surrender as SP Rohit Raju Urges Abandonment of Outdated Ideologies

Maoist Surrender: SP Rohit Raju Welcomes 12 Former Rebels Back to Mainstream Life

(Samaya Jyothi – Telangana) — In a significant development for peace and public security, Superintendent of Police Rohit Raju, IPS, revealed in a press conference that 12 members of the Maoist party have surrendered and decided to reintegrate into mainstream society.

Addressing the media, SP Rohit Raju assured that the Telangana Police Department would stand firmly with those who choose peace over violence, extending full support for their rehabilitation and reintegration.

Police Call for Peace, Not Punishment

The press meet was held in the presence of senior officers and was also acknowledged by official handles including @TelanganaCOPs and @TelanganaDGP. SP Rohit Raju praised the courage of those who came forward and emphasized the importance of leaving behind outdated ideologies that no longer serve the interests of the people.

“We respect the decision of those who surrendered. The Police Department will ensure their safety, dignity, and transition into a better life,” said SP Rohit Raju.

Details of the Surrender

The 12 individuals who surrendered had been active in Maoist activities across Telangana and neighboring states. Their decision to leave the insurgency behind came after months of outreach and dialogue by security agencies focused on de-radicalization and peaceful conflict resolution.

During the conference, SP Rohit Raju highlighted that many of the surrendered members cited disillusionment with violent ideologies, lack of progress in the movement, and personal aspirations for a peaceful life as their primary motivations for surrender.

The police will now initiate the state-run rehabilitation scheme, which provides educational, financial, and vocational support to former extremists who choose to reintegrate.

A Shift Toward Progress

In a powerful message, SP Rohit Raju urged all those still involved in extremist groups to leave behind violence and join the mainstream of public life. “There is no glory in conflict. True strength lies in building, not breaking,” he stated.

The police official reiterated that the door remains open for others who wish to surrender, and added that the government’s comprehensive surrender policy ensures safety, dignity, and opportunities for growth for those who cooperate.

Social Reintegration Plans

According to police sources, the surrendered individuals will undergo counseling, health screening, and skill training as part of their reintegration. Officials are working with district administration to offer housing support and employment options based on their abilities.

Many of the surrenderers are in their 20s and 30s, and some expressed hope to reconnect with family, pursue education, and lead normal lives. NGOs and local community leaders are also being roped in to support the transition process.

Police and Public Partnership

SP Rohit Raju emphasized that the success of such surrender initiatives relies on community support and mutual trust. He urged citizens to avoid stigmatizing reformed individuals and to participate in building an inclusive and peaceful society.

This public appeal, combined with the Telangana Police’s proactive surrender policy, is seen as a step toward reducing Maoist presence in rural and tribal regions where they have traditionally operated.

Changing Tide in Extremism

Security experts view this surrender as part of a growing trend of Maoist cadres abandoning the insurgency, influenced by both internal disillusionment and increased efforts by the government to provide peaceful alternatives.

Telangana, in particular, has seen a steady decline in Maoist activity over the last few years, largely due to targeted surrender campaigns, infrastructure development in rural areas, and community policing efforts.

A New Beginning

In his concluding remarks, SP Rohit Raju said, “This is not just a surrender — it is a beginning. A beginning of trust, hope, and peace.” He called upon remaining Maoist operatives to consider the example of these 12 individuals and join the journey toward transformation.

The press conference ended with a pledge from the police department to safeguard those who surrender and work collectively to uphold law, peace, and democratic values.
