Hyderabad Heat Meets Wild Retreat: Nehru Zoo Welcomes 24,000 Visitors in a Single Day
Hyderabad, May 25, 2025 – The summer holidays brought a wildlife-fueled escape to thousands as Nehru Zoological Park recorded a massive 24,000 visitors in a single day this Sunday. With schools closed and temperatures pleasantly moderate, families, students, and tourists poured into the 380-acre park located near Mir Alam Tank.
The surge marked one of the busiest days this season, transforming the zoo into a vibrant hub of activity. To ensure a smooth and safe experience, zoo authorities increased staff deployment, opened additional ticket counters, operated battery-run vehicles, and installed more drinking water stations to help guests beat the heat.
But the day wasn’t just about sightseeing. Visitors were treated to interactive reptile talks and wildlife awareness sessions, underscoring the zoo’s role in conservation education and ecological awareness. Children and parents alike expressed excitement over getting closer to nature and learning about endangered species.
“This is the best way to combine fun with learning during the summer break,” said Priya, a parent visiting with her two children.
Home to over 2,200 animals including lions, elephants, tigers, reptiles, and exotic birds, the 60-year-old zoo continues to be a favorite destination for locals and tourists seeking meaningful family time, adventure, and education.
The zoo management has urged visitors to follow guidelines, avoid littering, and participate in awareness programs to support its mission of protecting wildlife.
