Dumping Crisis in Tellapur: Residents Call for Urgent Cleanup and Coordination
Tellapur, Telangana – A rising crisis in Tellapur has caught the attention of locals and commuters alike, as unchecked dumping of construction debris and household waste continues to pile up along the Osman Nagar–Service Road. The unsightly heaps are not just an eyesore but are rapidly turning into a public health hazard.
Local residents are reporting a sharp increase in foul odors, unhygienic surroundings, and traffic disruptions due to the roadside clutter. “It’s getting worse every day. We can’t walk or drive safely, and the smell is unbearable,” said Ramesh, a daily commuter.
What’s frustrating the residents even more is the administrative confusion. Despite a previous police case being filed, no concrete action has followed due to overlapping responsibilities between the Tellapur Municipality, Kollur Police, Narsingi Municipality, and Mokila Police. Each body appears unsure of who holds enforcement jurisdiction, leaving the problem to fester.
Environmentalists warn that prolonged dumping without proper disposal can lead to water contamination, mosquito breeding, and respiratory issues, especially for children and the elderly.
Local activists and RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations) are urging authorities to form a joint task force to address the crisis immediately. “What we need is coordinated governance, not finger-pointing,” said one community leader.
Residents have now taken to social media with hashtags like #CleanTellapur and #DumpingCrisisTellapur, calling on local leaders and officials to act decisively.
