Vinay Bhaskar Backs KCR, Slams Congress Probe

Former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar Defends KCR’s Legacy Amidst Kaleshwaram Project Inquiry

Samaya Jyothi | Hyderabad:
Accusations of political bias and vindictiveness echoed on Wednesday as former Government Chief Whip and BRS party Hanumakonda district president, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, came out strongly in defense of former Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) during the ongoing inquiry by the Commission set up by the Congress government to investigate the Kaleshwaram project.

Speaking at BRK Bhavan in Hyderabad, where KCR appeared before the Commission, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar—accompanied by party members from the West constituency—delivered a fiery speech lauding the former CM’s contributions to Telangana’s irrigation and drinking water infrastructure. He condemned the inquiry as a politically motivated attempt to tarnish the legacy of a leader who he claims was instrumental in achieving Telangana’s dream of a separate state.

“The Telangana Swarastra movement was driven by the need for water and funds, and KCR fulfilled that promise. He is not just a leader but a modern-day Bhagiratha who brought rivers to the doorsteps of farmers,” said Vinay Bhaskar.

He emphasized that KCR’s strategic diversion of water from the Godavari and Krishna rivers played a crucial role in solving the six-decade-long crisis of drinking and irrigation water in the region. According to him, the accusations against KCR are an example of “depraved politics” aimed at undoing the progress achieved under BRS governance.

Vinay Bhaskar pointed out that it was under KCR’s visionary leadership that monumental projects like the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme were completed, transforming the agricultural landscape of Telangana. “Over one crore acres of land were brought under irrigation, and the state achieved the highest paddy production in the country—three crore tons annually,” he added.

The former MLA also credited KCR with initiating both the Blue Revolution and Green Revolution in the newly formed state, ensuring food security and sustainable development. “These projects were not just engineering feats but the backbone of Telangana’s agrarian economy,” he said.

The Congress government’s decision to form a commission to investigate the Kaleshwaram project has stirred political controversy, with the BRS accusing it of launching a smear campaign. Vinay Bhaskar alleged that both central and state governments are working in tandem to “trouble KCR” and “turn Telangana into a desert again.”

“Even if a thousand commissions are set up, the truth remains unshaken. The people of Telangana know who brought them water, who turned barren fields into green belts, and who stood by them through every drought and crisis,” Vinay Bhaskar remarked.

He warned that targeting KCR will only backfire on the Congress, as the former CM’s work is deeply embedded in the public memory. “These efforts are not just numbers on a government report; they are the lifeblood of Telangana’s farmers,” he declared.

Vinay Bhaskar concluded by asserting that the legacy of KCR and his dedication to Telangana’s irrigation and water supply needs will continue to inspire future generations, regardless of political vendettas or commissions.

As tensions continue to rise over the inquiry, political observers suggest that this move by the Congress could become a double-edged sword—either weakening BRS or reviving public support for KCR amidst perceived injustice.

In a state that was built on the foundation of water rights, any attempt to challenge the achievements related to irrigation infrastructure is likely to provoke strong responses from regional leaders and citizens alike. With KCR maintaining a dignified stance and allies like Vinay Bhaskar standing firm, the political landscape in Telangana remains heated but vibrant.
