Eight dead in blast at synthetic processing plant in Boisar, CM declares Rs 5 lakh each for expired’s family

At least eight people were killed in an immense blast at a Chemical plant at Boisar in Maharashtra’s Palghar District on Saturday evening, a police official said.

Boisar is more than 100 km away from Mumbai.

The under-development plant of Ank Pharma, where the blast occurred, is situated in a Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) zone at Kolwade town, the authority said.

The impact, which occurred during the testing of certain synthetic compounds around 7.20 pm, was immense to the point that it was heard inside a 15-km range, and window sheets of certain houses in the encompassing zone broke, he said.

The under-development plant building crumbled after the blast.

While eight people were executed, the harmed were being removed from flotsam and jetsam, the authority said.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray declared help of Rs 5 lakh each for the kinfolk of the expired, an announcement from his office said.
